EJF Archaeology Summer Camp
The EJF Archaeology Summer Camp, hosted by the Exploring Joara Foundation in partnership with Durham Academy Summer, offers a unique experience for young archaeology enthusiasts. The camp provides an immersive learning environment where children and teenagers, divided into age groups of 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18, engage in hands-on archaeological activities. Participants dig into the history of the 16th-century Native American village of Joara and the Spanish Fort San Juan, alongside professional archaeologists. The program includes artifact analysis, excavation techniques, and a special excursion for high schoolers to further archaeological sites.
